Save the trestles along the
port Alberni subdivision!

Most don't understand the importance of preserving these vital wooden trestles along the 39-mile railway right-of-way between Parksville and Port Alberni, BC. These vital structures are the future of this rail line and require immediate attention for future rail potential. Many want a tourist train to operate across the entirety of this line but currently can only operate on short sections on opposite ends due to structural conditions of these trestles. The Port Alberni Subdivision has been said to have scenery comparable to that of the White Pass & Yukon Route. For those who have ridden the WP&YR it is highly scenic and to compare to the Port Sub is not possible without a train to traverse the entirety of this scenic stretch of our island railway. We must stabilize these structures now before it is too late and additional costs are involved to do so. Please take a short moment of your time and sign the petition below to help support our goals and ultimately help others realize the Port Alberni Subdivision's full potential.

I the undersigned support getting Heritage Status in making the E&N Railway’s Port Alberni Subdivision, from Parksville to Port Alberni, BC a National Historic Site in order to receive Grants and Funding to rebuild and restore the heritage wooden trestles dating back from 1911 to 1914 — even before the CPR built the Kettle Valley Railway Trestles.
